The planetary orbit
The planetary orbit shows the motion of planets around the sun, using coins as models for the planets.
The planetary orbit shows how the planets move around the sun. This experiment uses coins to represent planets. A planet close to the sun moves along its orbit rapidly, while a planet far from the sun moves more slowly. Since a “year” is defined as the time taken for one revolution around the sun, you can compare how old you would be on different planets. Someone who is 10 years old on Earth would be counted as 42 years old on Mercury, but only 10 months on Jupiter.
