The Stella light installation

Chris Wood, a British light artist, is the creator of the magical artwork, Stella, which hangs on the second floor of Tom Tits. Chris works at the intersection of art and science, using light and optics to create his works.

Stella is a suspended constellation of six illuminated Fresnel lenses. Slowly rotating, the work transforms a utilitarian optical device into an instrument of wonder, revealing focused beams of light, spectral rainbows, and delicate patterns encased within the circles .

Designed to concentrate light, the lenses become generators of constantly changing optical events, revealing magical moments with every movement.

Operating on a one-minute light sequence, the sculpture offers an ever-changing experience that rewards prolonged observation and invites viewers to discover new relationships between light, movement, and perception.
