The Drop

Art and science meet at Tom Tit, creating new solutions. This moving sculpture shows the way in which a drop falls onto a water surface.

The Drop is a kinetic sculpture. It was originally intended to be a wind-powered mechanical "drop in the water", made from stainless steel, using the inborn desire people have to imitate nature.

It was manufactured in 2014 as a temporary public sculpture for Brunkebergstorg in Stockholm. The purpose of The Drip is to arouse curiosity in the world around us, and suggest that technology, people and nature are woven together.

Design and production by Guringo AB, manufactured by SVART, commissioned by Stockholm Konst for the Brunkebergstorg 2014 project, and subsequently donated to Tom Tits Experiment by Stockholm Municipality.
