The wave wall

The Wave Wall is a model of the water's wave motions. Put it in motion and study how the water moves. Is it lateral, vertical or a circular motion?

Where can you find this on a daily basis?

Here you can see how waves move in the water. The tank contains oil and water. The oil floats on top of the water, as it has a lower density. If you look at how the waves move, you can see how they go up and down vertically.

Sustainable development

The energy in the waves can be used with help from a wave energy converter. A generator is placed at the bottom of the ocean, and its moveable parts are attached to a buoy by a rope. When the buoy moves up and down vertically, electricity is created with help from the water. In larger oceans, waves are always moving – so wave energy converters could be an important and environmentally friendly source of energy in the future.
