Wacky Wheels

The concentric black-white circles have red circles at their centres. The black and white lines oppose each other at a join, and the complete pattern is regular and symmetrical.

The alternation between black and white means that the circles seem to be displaced relative to each other, and in different layers. An illusion of squares is also formed.
