Experimenta

In Experimenta, we have added a layer of computer games over the top of our experiments. Try it out and collect points together!

Experimenta is based on game theories. Our visitors are encouraged to immerse themselves in the principle behind each experiment, by being rewarded with eggs. These eggs can in turn be exchanged for an experience in the Experimenta Cabinet.

Instead of using digital information and screens to display scores and illustrate game progress, we have developed a different solution. Points are collected by mechanical machines which light up when the player activates the experiment. The eggs are moved, putted, spun and clunked together as the player gets points.

When the time is up, the player can collect all their egg points on a card and try new experiments, or give their egg points to the turtle in the Experimenta Cabinet.

So the digital layer of experiments can be found in the background of the experiments, in the form of sensors and programmed microcomputers. Your physical movements are read by sensors and converted into a digital score, which is wirelessly transferred to your card when you touch the card to the flashing square on the experiment's scoring box. The wireless transmission technology to and from the cards is called RFID and is usually found in debit cards or door entry cards, for example.
