A Storm

Stand in front of the fan and press the buttons. Choose the wind speed you want to fight against. Here, you can safely live through a hurricane.

The fan in this experiment is of the type used to ventilate road tunnels. Buttons have been placed at one end that regulate the strength of the wind. Hurricane-strength winds start at a wind speed of 32,7 m/s – anything above this is a hurricane.

The Beaufort scale is often used at sea. This is an international scale that describes the correlation between wind strength, wind speed, and the effects of the wind. A hurricane has a value of 12 on the Beaufort scale.
