Small bell fountain

The top of the pipe spreads water in all directions by using a narrow opening. The water’s surface tension makes the water stay together in the form of a thin film that creates a dome. The film is thinnest at the bottom of the dome, where it is widest. If you carefully blow more air into the dome, the bell can increase.

If you press your hand against water coming out of the tap, the same thing happens, only upside down.

Sustainable development

If the earth is very dry, by adding just the right amount of water it can be taken up by the roots. This means that the crop can continue to take up steam from the ground with help from the stoma. The crops can develop and ripen, just as they do in a year with normal rainfall. This way even improves the crop’s ability to extract nutrients from the soil, something which reduces the risk of fertilisers seeping into the soil, that in turn creates an over-fertilisation of our watercourses.
