Ground water pipe

An iron pipe in the ground enables us to investigate the ground water. This pipe has been driven down to a depth of 12 meters.

The lowermost 50 centimeters of the pipe has 100 holes drilled in it, each of diameter 6 millimeters. The ground water at this position is at a depth of 8 meters. This is the same level as the water in Lake Mälaren, which is not far away. With the aid of a small pump that is lowered into the pipe, it is possible to investigate the flow of water and its quality.
