Två personer provar experimentet Hyperbol kurvtagning

Hyperbolic curves

Is it possible for a straight line to pass through a curve? Study how the stick moves through the curve in the model!

The experiment can be described as a mathematical model of how a straight line can pass through a curve. The stick is supported by a horizontal arm. It tilts in such a way that when it rotates, its various parts move together in three planes during one revolution.

The pattern of motion may be too complicated to visualise in any other way than using a model.
