A Cubic Metre

A cubic metre is a cube where each side is 1 metre. It can be filled with 1,000 litres of water, but we usually fill it with people. How many can be squeezed in?

According to UN population statistics, the world’s population is increasing by around 80 million people each year. These statistics also suggest that soon there will be 8 million people on the planet. Global population growth is expected to grow, despite a stable decline in births since the 1960s. This is because people are living longer as more people have better access to nutritious food, clean water and healthcare.

Will there be room for all of us on earth when the poulation grow? Will there be enough food and water?
