Floating eggs

Have you heard that you can float in the Dead Sea? This is a lake with a very high salt content. The salt content of the bottles differ: can you say which one has the highest level?

This experiment is a model of the density of water. Density measures how tightly the atoms in a substance are packed. The density of water depends on, among other things, its temperature and salt content. The salt water in the oceans has a higher density than the fresh water you get from a tap in the home or in lakes. The eggs will, therefore, float when they are placed in salt water. You can also float in water with a sufficiently high salt content, as is found, for example, in the Dead Sea.
