About Tom Tits

Science and technology are fun if someone explains them in the right way. Only when you get to try something for real can you understand it, and then the knowledge you’ve gained remains with you.

What can you do at Tom Tits Experiment?

We have four floors and a park (open May-September) with experiments that children, teenagers and adults can enjoy. The experiments tempt us into learning a little bit more about technology, physics, maths, geography, biology, the human body, illusions and much more. All the experiments are true hands-on experiments. No previous knowledge is necessary, and most things can be done by anyone, no matter your age. You get the chance to use all senses, and quite a few of the experiments you experience, quite simply, with your body. Find out what it feels like to swing in the Yoyo, control the wind in A Storm, or hoist yourself up in the Chair Lift.

Knowledge for children and adults

Most of our visitors are families with children. But what usually happens here, after a while, is that all members of the family find their inner child! It’s easy to be curious, to start testing things and to play. We are convinced that this is how you learn!

For anyone working at a preschool or school we offer professional development from our study days and courses, some of which we arrange ourselves, others in collaboration with institutions of higher education. At Tom Tit, teachers and pupils can gain knowledge in a new way.

Events, conferences and the preschool

We arrange conferences and events in our premises and can offer various team-building activities for companies, organisations and others who wants an unusual experience.

The Tom Tits preschool has places for approximately 60 children of different ages. The children are met by teaching staff and surroundings that stimulate and reinforce an approach triggered by curiosity.

A centre for knowledge and creativity

Tom Tits Experiment started with 480 square metres and a few employees. Through the years, that 480 has become 15,000. We have:

  • An exhibition in continuous renewal
  • Further education for creative and curious educators
  • Events that stimulate cohesion
  • Conference facilities
  • A cafe in which green thinking is central
  • A preschool
  • The first outdoor facility with experiments in Sweden
  • Makerspace

What’s with the name Tom Tit?

The slightly quirky name Tom Tit originates from a an imaginary figure who carried out scientific experiments in the French magazine L'Illustration at the end of the 19th century. Tom Tit demonstrated experiments and encouraged the readers to try out various fun activities with a scientific theme. Which is pretty much what we do here at Tom Tits Experiment!
